Abstract

104,835. Burridge, W. J. Sept. 26, 1916. Addition to 20005/14. Cramps and champs.-Relates to the floor cramp described in the parent Specification, and comprises a train of spurs gearing between the rackbar b and the pawl h and ratchet-wheel g, and also an adjustable frame u carrying the downwardly projecting serrated grip lugs f, which engage one side of the joist J. This frame u is slidable in the main frame a and has perforations x to receive securing-pins w, which also pass through apertures in lugs y of the frame a, whereby the frame u is secured to the frame a, in its adjusted position according to the width of the joist. On the other side of the frame a is the usual toothed cam-grip p carried by a spindle o in a lug n and operated by a handle q, which is held in operative position by a coiled spring s. The gearing for operating the rack slide b consists of a pinion d engaging the rack and integral with a larger pinion e engaging a small pinion f integral with the ratchet-wheel g. The wheel g is operated by a pawl h on the lever j, which is pivoted on the frame a by a pin k. A retention pawl m is provided. A cross-bar c keeps the rack b in position.
