Abstract

374,603. Handle-bar control mechanism. ROBERTS, V.G., Hillcrest, Wistaston, Crewe, May 16, 1931, No. 14497. [Class 136 (i).] In gear selector mechanism operated by twistgrip on the handle - bar of cycles, a locating means is provided at the gear box for the selector and is independently controlled also from the handle-bar. Two wires attached to a large disc 6 on the grip pass to the selector arm 5. Location is effected by means of serrations on extensions 7 of the arm and a spring plunger 13 operated by means of a handle 17 mounted on the grip. The clutch also may be controlled by the handle 17. Locating means, which may be incorporated in the handle-bar control, comprises a spring-pressed disc 19 with a tooth 20 adapted to engage teeth 21 on the disc 6. In a modified arrangement the clutch lever is arranged to work in conjunction with the throttle control at the other end of the handle-bar.
