Abstract

5629. Williams, F. March 8. Cramps.-A floor cramp is formed in two parts C, D, relatively movable and provided with means for gripping the joist as the cramp is actuated. The part C slides in the lower part D, and has shoulders E engaging levers F pivoted to the part D, and having downwardly-projecting grips G for gripping the joist. In the part C is a sliding screw H carrying the clamping-plate K, and engaged by a nut B formed with helical teeth engaging a wheel B<1> operated by a handle A. A spike J on the part D is pressed into the joist, and when the handle is turned to press the plate K against the board, the upper portion C slides back, and its shoulders E actuate the levers F, causing the grips G to grip the joist.
