428. Sollitt, R. H. Jan. 7. Cramps.-A cramp for forcing floor boards together has a rack 10 slidable between arms 2, 3 on the base-plate 1 and engaged by a toothed sector 6, which is operated by a bar 9 taking into a socket 8 on the sector. A pawl 12, pivoted between lugs 14, prevents backward motion of the rack. The base-plate 1 is clamped to the joist by means of ears 16, 17. The ear 16 is tapped to receive a screw 20, which is provided with a pivoted toothed head or washer 21 and is operated by a handle 23; the ear 17 has teeth 18 to grip upon a joist 19.
