Nut preparations.-A food product in the form of powder, granules, or tablets, soluble in aqueous beverages such as coffee and tea and in broths &c., is formed from an extract of fresh kola incorporated with lactose. After the destruction of the oxydases by heat or otherwise, a soft hydroalcoholic extract is prepared and peptized with hot water; the powdered lactose is then added, the mass being constantly stirred. The mixture may be dried to form a powder, or while still moist it may be granulated; and either the powder or the granules may be compressed to form tablets.
