Abstract

Senna pods are broken up, the pericarp is separated from the seeds, the latter being rejected, and the pericarp is then ground to a powder. The powder may be dehydrated by heat and thereafter stored in air-tight containers. The powder may be ultimately mixed with sugar, cocoa, saccharin, vanillin and sodium lauryl sulphate, the mixture being then wetted with an aqueous solution of malt extract, the wet mixture being granulated by being passed through a sieve and the resulting granules being dried.
