Abstract

233,473. Richardson, H. March 3, 1924. Dash-pots.-A grab or the like is provided with a dash-pot to render the rate of discharge of the buckets or jaws uniform under varying conditions. The dash-pot, which is of known form, comprises an oil cylinder 1, Fig. 4, and valved piston 7, the cylinder being provided with a bye-pass 15 having an adjustable valve 16 which is regulated according to the viscosity of the oil. As shown in Fig. 2, the cylinder may be secured to the head 28 of the grab and the piston-rod to one of the buckets 17, or this arrangement may be reversed. Specification 179,663, [Class 78 (iv), Loading &c.], is referred to.
