Abstract

Gas burners, flatflame.-In a burner, particularly for use with blast furnace, producer, or like hot gas, the gas and air are admitted through the end and sides of the burner respectively to passages 5, 4 between horizontal partitions 1 of refractory material or metal and issue from the burner in superposed layers. In one form, the partitions 1 are spaced apart by blocks 2, 3 so as to form two sets of gas and air passages. The structure is clamped between top and bottom plates 9, 10 by bolts 11 and between side plates 6 by bolts 8. The plates 6 are provided with air-inlet openings 7, corresponding to the passages 4, and fitted with hinged air-regulators 12. A grid-plate prevents gas from entering the passages 4. The plates 6 may be cast in one with rectangular casings connected to a common preferably valve-controlled hot-air inlet and the regulators 12 may be dispensed with.
