Abstract

232,867. Byard Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Meaden, J. F. Oct. 21, 1924. Hair-curling appliances. -Tongs for curling the hair having self-contained heating means comprise an arm 4 in the form of a perforated tube containing a wick 12 of absorbent material, a plug 4a inserted in the end of the arm, a second arm 5 of channel section pivoted to the, arm 4 by a pin 3, and handles 6, 7. The handle 7 of the arm 4 constitutes a container for methylated spirit or other fuel which is supplied to the wick 12 through a regulating cock 10. The handle 7 is provided with a filling plug 8 having orifices 8<c> which when the plug is partly withdrawn constitute air inlets. Preferably, means for lighting the device are provided, comprising a plug 13 carrying a piece of tinder 14 and screwed into the handle 6, and a flint or stone 15 secured to the handle'.
