[Class 126] A heating appliance suitable for use under motor car engines to prevent damage by frost comprises a casing 5 provided with feet 9 and fitted with one or more gas-burning nozzles 11 fed by a pipe 12. The casing 5 comprises a cylindrical drum 6 and a base portion 8 formed with openings 23, 17 covered by wire gauze 24, 18. A cover is detachably secured to the casing by screws 29. The burner is surrounded by a cylindrical wall 19 and may be lit by a match or taper applied to the end of, or inserted through, a tube 14 which is normally closed by a plug 15. A handle 27 facilitates the placing of the heater beneath the vehicle. The cover 7 may be formed with gauze - covered openings or may carry a hollow body packed with heat-insulating material. A heat-accumulator or a baffle-plate for the combustion products of inverted conical or dome shape may be arranged above the burner.
