497,304. Hair -waving appliances. KAHLHOFER, H. Nov. 15, 1937, No. 31341. [Class 131] For use in producing permanent waves, a heat-retaining clip adapted to be heated prior to its application to the curler 2 comprises two hollow pivoted jaws 7 shaped as shown and filled with asbestos, glass wool or other heat-retaining material. The end walls 6 of the two jaws make contact along the whole or a substantial part of their length, and the width of the clip does not exceed that of the protective clamp 1. Handles 8, 30 with finger buttons and springs 10, 31 of various forms are described. The walls 5, 6 may be made of the heat-retaining material. The asbestos or other material in the hollow jaws is preferably compressed by a specially-shaped piston.
