Abstract

232,826. Lucas, S. July 22, 1924. Spray burners; burners, mounting.-Inner and outer whirling streams of air are supplied to a burner 7 through annular passages formed by a bi-conical casing, comprising an inner cone 2 connected to an outer cone 1 by an intermediate tube 3, and a cylindrical casing 12 secured to the furnace front, the supply of air through the outer and inner annular passages being controlled by a sliding sleeve 14 and a cone 20 mounted on the burner supporting tube 8. Helical vanes 17 connect the cone 1 to the cylindrical casing 12 and act as a guide for the sleeve 14. Helical vanes 18 are also provided between the intermediate tube 3 and the tube 8. The cone 1 supports a burner holder 5 strengthened by webs 6 and provided with a set-screw 9 for adjustably securing the burner.
