Wedging or jamming,- Parallel slide valves for superheated steam and fluids at high pressures have the discs 3, 6 positively forced to and withdrawn from their seating- surfaces 8, after and before their sliding movement, respectively, by means of cylindrical bodies 2, 4, 5 arranged relatively eccentrically on the valve spindle 1. Lugs 10, 11, and 12 on the valve discs embrace the aforesaid cylindrical bodies which act as cams or eccentrics.
