Abstract

272,414. Fornaca, G. Jan. 24, 1927. Valves; valve gear.- The usual spring for closing the valve is replaced by a series of of plungers 6 arranged concentrically around the valve stem and acted on by air or other pressure supplied by a pump to a chamber 8 common to all the cylinders 7 in which the plungers work. The plungers are shaped like cartridge cases and engage a disc 5 acted on by a cam 1 and rocker 2. The cylinders 7 are formed with a stop 9<a> engaging a corresponding projection 10<a> on the valve guide.
