Sliding valves; wedging or jamming.-In the parallel slide stop valve of the parent Specification the eccentric bodies 2, 4, 5 are either individually or collectively made conical and are provided, like plug cocks, with throughway passages, as shown, so that when the spindle 1 is rotated for opening the valve these cock passages are opened to pass fluid for balancing the pressures on opposite sides of the main valve.
