Abstract
232,428. Rushton, T. May 24, 1924. Electric clocks.-In an electric clock a wheel 1 of the train is driven by a lever and pawl 2, 3, the lever being so controlled by a spring S and weight 4 that a constant driving force as applied. The lever is restored by an electromagnet acting on a spring-controlled bell-crank 9. The electromagnetic circuit 18, 19, 20, 21, 17 and frame is closed by contact between the insulated stud 14 and stop 12 on the lever, the armature 9 moving freely till the contact 13, 15 is closed by which the circuit is maintained during the restoration of the lever. A separate circuit and battery may be used to give the initial movement to the lever 16, the stud 14 being joined to a terminal 22 of the electromagnet. The invention may be applied to a clock in which a pendulum is energized by a weighted lever periodically restored.
