Abstract

289,775. Mombur, G. April 30, 1927, [Convention date]. Electric clocks and watches.-The balance of an electric clock or watch is given an impulse at each complete oscillation by electromagnetic means which include a periodically stressed spring and a magnet having two opposite windings adapted to neutralize one another. The arcs which the balance wheel describes on either side of the position of rest are unequal. 'The arbor 4 of the balance 5 carries a spring arm having a contact 7 adapted to meet a contact 8 in the circuit of the winding 12<b> of the magnet 11, the armature 10 of which (pivoted at 9) carries the contact 8. The armature lever also has a pawl 17 driving the ratchet 19 for the clock train. The winding 12<a> is always energized so that normally the armature is attracted, stressing the spring 13. When contact 7, 8 meet, winding 12<b> is energized to neutralize winding 12<a>, armature 10 is released and the spring 13 draws the pawl 17 behind another tooth and imparts an impulse to the balance wheel through the arm carrying the contact 7. When the armature is re-attracted the pawl 17 drives the wheelwork.
