Abstract

Winding-apparatus, electric and hand. - In order to adapt a clock to be wound up electrically utilizing a constant supply of any kind of current or voltage, the winding magnet and mechanism are made as a separate unit readily detachable from the clock or the horse-shoe magnet is provided with two long legs on which are placed a number of different windings, only one of which is used at one time. Further the winding spindle may project through the dial and be provided with a disc or pointer to indicate the rotation of the spring spindle. The hand-setting shaft may project through the winding unit and the back of the clock case and the winding spindle may project through the said back and be provided with a detachable grip for winding up the clock by hand. Fig. 1 shows an ordinary clock movement mounted between plates 2 and 3 and having a winding spindle, an extension 5 of which engages the detachable winding unit shown in Fig. 2, wherein 8 are the inter changeable coils, 6 the horse-shoe magnet and 7 the ratchet wheel actuated bv the rocking armature in the usual manner. This armature rotates freely upon a sleeve 5<a> on the plate 3 so that the winding spindle and armature can function independently. b is the spring barrel and c the escapement. A modification shows a magnet with long legs and also a rotation indicator as mentioned above.
