Abstract
285,800. Soc. Anon. des Etablissements TÚcalÚmit, (Assignees of Torche, P.). Feb. 21, 1927, [Convention date]. Electric clocks.-A balance 1 is periodically given an impulse by a pin 5, balance lever 6, and magnet 24. The pin 5 is rigid with a collet 4 on the balance staff 3 and in moving clockwise enters the notch 12 at the end of the balance lever; on returning counterclockwise the pin enters a second notch 13 and contacts with a spring 14 carried on the balance lever, thus completing the circuit of the magnet 24. The latter attracts an armature 23 rigid with a collar which is loose on the shaft 7 of the lever 6 and connected by a spring 8 with the end 10 of the lever 6. This spring 8 is thereby stressed and, through the lever 6 and pin 5, transmits an impulse to the balance. A spring 21 is used to bias lever 6 against either of the banking pins 19 or 19<1>. The movements of the armature 23 may be used in any known manner to give an indication of time. Modifications are described in which (1) the spring 8 is replaced by a helical spring, (2) the flexible electric connection 25 is replaced by a semi-rigid connection, (3) two magnets and two armatures are used so that the balance receives an impulse in each direction, and (4) a horseshoe magnet is used in the adaptation of the invention to a watch. Cases, watch.-Where the invention is adapted to a watch, the movement plate is provided with a central partition, one half of the casing holding the clockwork mechanism and the other half a battery.
