Abstract
390,232. Electric clocks. BUTTICAZ, E., Corcelles, NeuchÔtel, Switzerland. Oct. 16, 1931, No. 28781. [Class 139.] Escapements.-In an electric clock driven by a spring periodically stressed by an electromagnet, the armature of the latter is locked in the energized position by a device released by the impulse pin of a balance wheel, a member rigid with the armature imparting an impulse directly to the balance as the armature moves to the de-energized position. The armature 3 pivoted at 4 is stressed by a spring 8 to assume the position shown in the Figure, the circuit of magnet 1 being completed at 2, 12. The armature pulls up, stressing the spring whereupon member 12 pivoted at 12<1> rocks to break the magnet circuit. The armature is held against retraction however by a jewel pallet 14, carried on an arm 15 pivoted at 16 and sprung against a stop 19 by a spring 17. At the end of the clockwise movement of the balance the impulse pin 6 thereon rocks member 15 to release the armature at 5<11>. The balance now completes an anticlockwise swing and as it reverses to move clockwise again, its pin 6 receives an impulse from an arm 5 rigidly fixed to the armature, as the latter is moving under the action of spring 8. A pawl 11 also rigidly fixed to the armature advances the train through a ratchet 9.
