Abstract

231,695. Sharpe, E. F., and Ross, L. May 26, 1924. Stud-and-socket fastenings for purses, bags, &c., comprise an apertured plate 2, with flanges 3, fixed to the body of the bag and carrying a sliding catch member 24 having a dome-like part 20 and an upwardly projecting tongue 13 to engage a notched stud 7 on the flap of the purse. Within the dome 20 is a spring 28 bearing against a projection 15 on the plate 2 and pressing the sliding catch to fastening position. The aperture 23 in the plate 2 is of key-hole shape, the sliding catch passing through the narrow portion, and the peg 7 through the enlarged portion. The plate 2 is secured to the bag by a strip 36, Fig. 5, soldered to the plate at 31, 32, passed through the material of the bag and bent down.
