' The card or label holder is preferably carried by that part of the fastening which is secured to the body of the receptacle, belng arranged in such a manner that the card or label is covered by the flap of the receptacle when the latter is closed. The fitting is thus part1cularly suitable for attachment to purses, hand 7 bags or the like where a prominently dis- *played name is to be avoided. By raising the closure flap, however, the ownership of the purse or bag may be at once ascertained. The card holder may be carried by the socket element of thefastening, which may be provided with an extension carrying guide flanges adapted to receive the card, and'the I latter may be protected by a celluloid covering.

' Figure l of the accompanying drawings shows a hand bag inwhich the part of the fastener upon the body of the bag is provided, in accordance with this invention, with means for carrying a name and address card.

Figure 2 is a front view of fastener upon a larger scale and detached from the body of the bag, showing the frame member with which it'is provided and the name and address card fitted therein, the celluloid covering corresponding parts in each of the figures.

Referring to, the drawings, the hand bag is provided with a fastener of the usual type, comprising a projection or stud element 1 on the flap 2 of the bag which is adapted to be engaged within an opening or socket in the tegral ears 6 at its edge which are bent over on tothe rear face of the back-plate 5 so that the two plates are thus secured together. After the fastener has been secured to the body portion 3 of the hand by means of the prongs 12, the card or label 11 for hearing the name and address of the owner is slid in beneath the flanges 13 of the frame member through the open end of the latter. A rectangular celluloid covering 15 is then fitted above the card or label, being likewise slid beneath the flanges, the outer end of the celluloid being provided with a metal edging 16 which serves to close the end of the frame and also facilitates the removal of the covering when desired.

By arranging the frame member or holder for the name and address card above the fas tener upon the body part of the bag, as above described, it is covered by the flap '2 of the bag when the latter is closed, so that it is' hidden from view; it is, however, readily seen immediately the bag is opened.

Instead of the frame member or holder being attached to an integral extension of the back-plate of the fastener it may be attached to an extension of the front plate; or it may be attached to the fastener inv any other suitable manner, whilst the fastener portion may be of any other suitable construction.

A frame member or holder of any other suitable construction may also be provided, whilst the said frame member or holder may be of any desired shape and may be arranged beneath or at one side of the fastener portion, instead of being arranged above the latter.

Although the invention has been applied to fasteners for hand bags it is equally applicable to fasteners or looks for purses, attach cases or the like.

Having fully described my invention, what I desire to claim and secure by Letters Patent is 1. An attachment for a purse, hand-bag, attache-case or like receptacle comprising a flat back plate adapted to be attached to the face of the said receptacle, a receptacle-fastening element carried by the front face of said back plate, and a flanged holder for an identification card said holder also being carried by the said front face of the back plate 7 close to and flush with said fastening element.

2. An attachment for a purse, hand-bag, attache-case or like receptacle comprisinga back plate adapted to be attached to the face of the said receptacle said plate having an aperture, a flanged and apertured front plate applied to the front face of the back plate with the edge of the flange engaging the said face so as to form a stud-receiving socket fastener element, the said flange having integral ears clenched to engage the back plate, and a flanged holder for an identification device secured to the front face of the said back plate in juxtaposition to the socket fastener element and substantially flush therewith.

3. An attachment for a purse, handbag, attache-case or like receptacle and adapted to be attached to the outside of the body part thereof, comprising a back-plate having means whereby it may be secured to said body part, a hollow forwardly-projectin casing of a socket fastener element securec to the lower part of the front face of said back plate, said casing having a flat horizontal top edge, and a self-contained card holder, comprising a flat plate with forwardly-overhangmg card-receiving edges, at-

tached to the upper part of the front face of said back plate with its lower edge contiguous to and engaging the top horizontal edge of the lower casing, the said card holderv being of the same thickness as the lower casing so as to be flush therewith. I
