291,934. Kinsella, J. F., and Barrow, Hepburn, & Gale, Ltd. April 29, 1927. Bags for golf clubs.-A golf bag is made to expand and contract to permit easy access to the contents. The body 1 is cut with a V-shaped opening filled by an insertion or gusset 2 which folds inwards when the bag is closed at the mouth by the strap 19. In the open position the bag is bigger at the mouth than at the base 3. The mouth and V-shaped opening have spring steel stiffening strips 5 and 4 respectively which also assist the expansion of the bag. A strap 13 is used to divide the bag up into parts 15, 16, 17 for the various clubs, some of which may also be inserted through a hole 11 in the gusset 2. This strap may also serve to attach a hood 20. A spring steel strip at the back of the bag is used for the attachment of the usual carrying strap. Pockets and umbrella sockets are attached to the outside of the bag. In a modification the V- shaped opening and the hood are closed. by fasteners 25 of the sliding clasp type and pockets 26 are provided on the gusset 2.
