Abstract

231,656. McKenney, F. Y., Cheney, W. H., and Kelly Manufacturing Co. March 19, 1924. Solids, treating with liquids.-A device for making solutions from a soluble material such as soap, and water, comprises a chamber through which passes a stream of the liquid and which encloses a perforated container for the soap or other solid, means being provided for diverting part of the stream through the container while the rest passes round it; means are provided for varying the proportions of these parts. The chamber is fitted to a supply pipe 2 and discharges into a pipe 19. The perforated container 8 is fitted with a frusto-conical cover 11 and the water supply is controlled by two perforated plates 5 and 6 whereby the water passes both through and round the container. The upper plate 5 is rotatable and is provided with sets of perforations of different sizes, whereby the effective openings may be varied to alter the proportion of water flowing through the inner and outer rings of perforations in the lower plate.
