Abstract
The regulator controls the flow of water through a predetermined hole 7 in a ball valve 8 and the concentration of the NaCL in the solution by means of a screen 4 at the bottom of the salt container 1. <IMAGE>
Description
NaCL BIXTURL FLOV CONTROL REGULATOR
This invention has been invented to control the mixture and flow of NaCL solution to filter media in domestic water filters or purifiers. NaCl solution is needed to remove selected impurities collected by the filter media during the passage of water through the filter nedia.
It is essential that both the flow rate and mixture be controlled and this is the function of the invention.
Referring to the drawing, the NaCL mixture flow control regulator comprises of a container (1) for the NaCL which is coupled to a water flow regulator (2). Preceeding the regulator (2) is a filter (3) to protect the regulator (2) fron blockages. At the bottom of the container (1) is a screen (4) which allows a controlled quantity of NaCL to pass through.
The resultant solution is used to remove or reduce selected impurities such as nitrates and bacteria from selected filter media
On top of the container (1) is a threaded cap (5) with seal (10) which retaines water under pressure, and is removed to fill the container (1) with NaCI. The water flow regulator (2) is a ball valve which has a .35 mm hole (7) drilled through the ball (8) in the closed position, allowing a controlled water flow through the ball.
The amount of flow through the flow regulator (2) can be determined by the size of the hole (7)
Claims (5)
- Clams 1. The NaCI mixture flow control regulator will control both the flow rate and consentration of a NaCI solution. The concentration of NaCI in the solution is controlled by the water inlet (11) and the size of the screen (4).The water flow is controlled by the size of the hole (7) in the ball valve (9).
- 2. A needle valve could be used in place of the hole (7) in the ball valve (9)
- 3. An automatic air bleed valve can be fitted to the cap (5) of the container (1)
- 4. The concentration of NaCL in the solution can also be controlled by allowing a percentage of raw water to by pass the NaCt through a separate tube within the container (1).
- 5. The ball valve (9) can be replaced with a 2 way valve which would divert the main supply through a tube in which a flow restricter (6) is placed. This would then eliminate the need to drill the hole (7) in the ball (8) of the ball valve (9)
