Abstract
231,012. Annal, F., and Greenwood, E. April 16, 1924. Link-work for coupling the main shaft of a locomotive, driven either by steam or by internalcc.mbustion engines, to the driving wheels with the object of avoiding dead centres. A crank on the main shaft a is coupled to an intermediate crank shaft b by a rod c and to the centre of the coupling rod f by a rod d. A vertical link e connects the shaft b and the coupling rod f, the rods or links c, d, e forming a triangle. The shaft b is mounted in a bearing g, sliding in a curved guide h with centre at the shaft a, and connected by a link k to the centre of a bar i carried by the axle-boxes j. Arrangements are also described in which the shafts a and b are in the same horizontal plane and also in which the shaft a is arranged in advance of the shaft b. The invention is also described as applied to a six-wheel coupled locomotive.
