Abstract

230,558. Genest, W. Dec. 17, 1923. Indicators.-In an apparatus for indicating the charge level in blast furnaces, shaft kilns &c., the movements of a sounding-rod 1 actuate a piston or plunger 10, which in turn varies the air pressure in a pipe line 14 leading to the indicating and recording instruments. As shown the rod 1 and plunger 10 are connected by ropes 2, 8 passing over pulleys 3, 9 to a weight 7, the pulleys 3 being so arranged that the charging-trolley 5 during its upward travel contacts with a stop 6 on the rope 2 and lifts the sounding-rod. The downward movement of the trolley frees the rod which rests on, and descends with, the charge. The plunger 10 operates in a liquid-containing vessel 11, to the upper end of which the pipe 14 is connected.
