Abstract

Apparatus fitted to lifts. - In electrically actuated lifts which are stopped by the action of a ramp mounted on the side of the cage on a switch mounted in the well, the position of the ramp is varied automatically according to the load carried by the cage. The ramp j is slidably mounted in a guide l and is suspended by a link k from a member h pivoted at f to a bracket on the top of the cage. A pin d at the end of an arm e of the member h is maintained in contact with and caused to deflect the hoisting rope b by a spring g. The amount of deflection of the rope b, and consequently the position of the ramp j, varies with the load in the cage, which may be indicated by a pointer m and scale n. The movement of the pointer m may also be transmitted by controls p to an indicator within the cage.
