Abstract

Mine and colliery signals.-A mechanical device for clearing the indicator of a mine signalling apparatus immediately on the movement of the engine comprises two levers C<1> mounted side by side and provided with spring pawls c<1> which, when the levers are raised, lift corresponding arms A<1> which form part of a bellcrank lever whereof the arm A clears the indicator by pulling a wire or cord A<3>. The levers C<1> are raised when the engine starts by means of a beltdriven disc F<1> which carries four rollers g<1> spaced apart at 90‹ and arranged on the two sides of the disc, so that one pair of opposite rollers cooperates with each of the levers C<1>. When the Engine is at rest, one or other or both of the levers are in position to be effective as soon as motion begins. The levers are provided with dash-pots E, which prevent them from falling while the disc F' is rotating.
