Counter scales and the like.-A weighing-apparatus of the type having one or more platforms provided with parallel guiding means comprises a curved guide or guides adapted to co-operate with a check arm or like part of the platform or platforms to effect the parallel guiding thereof, and a spring or like resilient device which is directly or indirectly connected with or adapted to act on, the guide or guides in such a manner as to prevent the error which results from the bending of the weighing mechanism arising from the placing of a load adjacent one of the edges of the platform or platforms. As shown in Fig. 1. the check arm 5 secured to the platform 1 has a curved surface 6, bearing against a roller 7 carried on one end of a spring 10 the other end of which is secured to a stationary part of the apparatus. In modifications, the roller works within a slotted guide plate at the upper end of the check arm, or the roller is carried by the check arm and works within a slotted guide plate mounted on the end of the spring. In a further modification, Fig. 2, the check arm is secured to one end of the spring 16, and the other end of the spring is attached to a rolling sector 22 connected by a flexible member 24<a> to a fixed surface 24.
