Abstract

1,109,692. Weighing apparatus. HOLLANDS & BLAIR Ltd. May 24, 1965 [May 22, 1964], No. 21213/64. Heading G1W. In a platform weighing machine in which a platform is supported by levers 23, 24 from a base 15 of a casing and arranged on being loaded to move the levers against the force of a calibrated spring 5 and to actuate an indicating mechanism comprising a rack and pinion device 3, 10 so that an indication is obtainable of the weight of the load, the indicating mechanism is mounted on a rigid beam 1 of inverted channel-shaped crosssection, formed integrally with the base and extending from one end of the base to the other. The beam 1 may be secured to a further rigid beam 18 to form a T-like beam assembly, the beam 18 being secured to walls 15a of the casing and providing supports for the levers 23. The rack 3 which is biased by a spring 8 is pivoted to a bell-crank lever 2 which is pivoted on the beam 1 and which bears on a plate 13 attached to the spring 5, the plate 13 acting as a support for the levers 23. A spring 16 may be mounted on the beam 1 which may be bowed between its ends and arranged to prevent excess movement of the rack 3 when a load is removed from the platform. The pinion is attached to a weight indicating dial 9 which is viewed through a window in the platform.
