Abstract
230,224. Chance Bros. & Co., Ltd., and Forster, A. L. Jan. 18, 1924. Multiple-way valves; closure members, hinged.-A flap valve movable about a central axis particularly adapted for use as a reversing valve in regenerative furnaces is supported by a spindle having lateral freedom in the casing so that the valve member can accommodate itself to the seat. In the form shown in the Figure the valve member seats in the horizontal part of the casing adjacent air spaces r, and has a spindle a supported by counterbalance levers l and adapted to work in vertical slots in the casing. The slots are covered by plates i held in position by slotted caps j. The valve has an actuating arm g linked to a lever p having its fulcrum coaxial with those of the counterbalance levers. In a modification the valve seats in the vertical part of the casing and has its spindle mounted in horizontal slots.
