Abstract

Actuating - mechanism.-In valve operating mechanism in which a. valve or tappet is operated positively for both opening and closing by a lever, the end 17 of the rocking lever operates between two contact. members or buttons 25,26 disposed between abutmemts 22, 23 secured to the valve stem 19, with or without interposed springs. The inner faces of the contact members are partly cylindrical or spherical for engagement with the end of the lever, and the outer faces are flat and are slidable in a direction at. right angles to the axis of the valve stem in accordance, with the angular movement of the end of the rocking lever.
