Abstract

229,842. Lanchester, F. W., and Clench, E. C. S. Feb. 5, 1924. Variable-speed gearing.-In high-speed engines for motor vehicles &c. in which an inertia member or fly-wheel is connected to the rotating parts by frictional means for the purpose of damping out torsional vibration, the fly-wheel is mounted on and frictionally connected to one or more of the crank webs. In the form shown, the side cheeks b of the fly-wheel engage shoulders on the web a, and a Weston-type coupling g, h forms the frictional connection. Specifications 21139/10 and 3682/11 are referred to.
