Abstract

340,720. Balancing reciprocating machines. PAXMAN, E. P. and DAVEY, PAXMAN & CO., Ltd., Standard Iron Works, Colchester. Nov. 19, 1929, No. 35312. [Class 122 (iii).] Means for balancing the secondary forces in internal combustion engines, steam engines, air compressors, &c. comprises oscillated weights arranged on either side of the crank shaft on shafts arranged parallel thereto and driven therefrom through speed-increasing gearing such as described in Specification 14931/14, [Class 80 (ii), Gearing, Variable-speed &c.]. The main shaft 3 of a fourcylinder heavy oil engine 1 drives at double speed a supplementary shaft 4 which shaft through eccentrics and rods 8 oscillates cranks 9 secured to the side shafts 6 carrying the balance weights 7.
