Hinge, pivot, and joint pins; disc and lilie plate hinges and pivots.-A joint for an artificial limb consists of a spindle f attached to straps i, j carried by one limb member b, rollers l surrounding the spindle and being enclosed in housings c secured bv rivets &c. e to the other limb member a. A screw k enters the open end of the spindle, and to prevent displacement of the latter straps i, are provided with screws n which enter notches in the screw k and spindle head h. The opposed bearing surfaces of the housing c and spindle f may be tapered and ball bearings may be used in conjunction with the rollers. Instead of a spindle f, a pair of pivot studs may be employed secured to one of the limb members. According to the Provisional Specification, the studs may be screwed into forked portions of the side straps on one of the limb members, the intermediate portion of each stud passing through a lug on a strap on the other limb member, rollers being located between the stud and lug.
