Abstract

Tanks and cisterns are constructed of a bituminous concrete consisting of a hard natural bitumen and a graded mineral or like aggregate, and may be provided with expansion joints, or with reinforcements, or both. Fig. 2 shows a tank constructed with slabs c fitted into grooves d in pillars e with the aid of a plastic cement which permits expansion. Fig. 4 shows a tank composed of circular sections g held together by tee-rods j. According to another method of construction, flanged sections a secured together by bolts b may be used as in Fig. 5. Specifications 201,650, [Class 22, Cements &c.]; 202,248, [Class 87 (ii), Moulding plastic &c. substances]; and 202,598, [Class 107, Roads &c.], are referred to.
