Abstract

257,057. Dunker, L. H. A. July 1, 1925. Block paving. - A road wearing surface of asphalt, cement, or concrete is reinforced with a mesh formed of flat metal strips a placed on edge, bent to wave form, and united at the crests by interlocking means such as rods b passing through holes in the strips. Before laying, the mesh is filled with asphalt &c. flush with the top of the strips to form a series of readily transportable mats which are afterwards linked together on the foundation to form the wearing surface. The rods preferably project into the cells the mesh to key the filling material. Certain of the cells may be filled with white material to form a line for traffic guidance.
