Abstract

228,205. Knight, H. M. July 26,1923. Centrifugal pumps.-In liquid-raising apparatus, air is exhausted by a pump comprising a fixed part 653, 656, 657 and a revolving part 659, 660, 674, 675, the whole being immersed in liquid. The air ring 674 of the rotor has a number of vanes 680 which direct the air from the pipe 653 to the nozzles 681, at the mouths of which suction is set up by their passage through the liquid. The exhausted air rises through the liquid at atmospheric pressure.
