Abstract

251,696. Doty, E. F. Feb. 6, 1925. Casings.-The flanged side-cheeks 21 of a double-inlet impeller 20 are cut away at the periphery to form annular discharge passages 26 to the pressure chambers 14, the blades 22 being closely surrounded by an impact ring 27 to divert the fluid laterally. The ring 27 may be separate from the casing. Each suction chamber 12 has a separate inlet, but the chambers 14 have a common discharge. Single or double-unit pumps of the single or multi-stage type may be similarly constructed either on a horizontal or vertical axis.
