Abstract

Actuated or applied by running axle or wheel; force - transmitting mechanism.-In a four-wheel braking system for vehicles, the forces transmitted to the front and rear wheel brakes respectively are equalized bv means of a three-armed lever b<1>, b<2>, b<3> fulcrumed at a point b<4> such that its join to the actuating-means passes between the connections of the actuated-devices, the fulcrum being so mounted, as on an arm c hinged to the vehicle at c<1>, as to have freedom of movement in a plane at right-angles to the axis of rotation of the lever. In the construction shown, the pedal is adapted to operate a servo-mechanism a<2> which acts on the equalizing-lever through the arm a<22> and cable a<5>, and cables a<5> lead from the ends of the lever arms b<3>, b<2> to equalizers a<33>, a<3> for the front and rear wheel brakes respectively.
