Abstract

227,166. Rosak, K., and Schnellwerkzeug Ges. Oct. 5, 1923. Drawings to Specification. Milling-cutters; compound forms.-A cutter of tool steel which blisters when sufficiently heated, is united with the iron body of a tool by covering the surfaces to be united with a deoxidizing medium, which melts below 1200‹ C. but which is not consumed or vaporised at a welding-temperature and the parts to be united are heated to 1200' C. and over so as to cause blisters to form on the surface of one or both metals with sufficient violence to penetrate the interposed film of the de-oxidizing medium and effect a direct melting together of the two metals without the application of pressure. A suitable de-oxidizing medium is copper preferably in the presence of borax.
