Screw Sprengel pumps; coiled tube type meters.-A meter or compressor, more particularly for gases, consists of a screw member having a plurality of threads and rotating over a liquid seal contained in a casing which has only a small clearance from the screw member. The screw, of aluminium, has four threads 1 - - 4 with the end portions cut off to a conical form and is roughly balanced by the thrust of the liquid seal. The casing c is enlarged at the lower portion g to allow return of the sealing liquid.
