Oct. 31, 1933, No. 30240. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1932. [Class 135.] The flow of liquid refrigerant from the condenser to the evaporator is controlled by a tube, the internal diameter of which is such that the refrigerant passes through the tube with turbulent flow at approximately its critical velocity at the lowest working pressure difference between the condenser and the evaporator. Further, the length of the tube is such that the desired rate of flow is secured. The diameter and the length of the tube can be calculated from the known characteristics of the refrigerant and the required rate of flow, and in the case of a machine using methyl formates as the refrigerant may be 0À0137 and 3À56 inches respectively. The tube 21 may be secured in an outer tube 15 enlarged at its upper end to accommodate a filter 24.
