772,065. Refrigerating. V.S.C.H.P. VYSKUMNY USTAV STROJU CHLADICICH A POTRAVINARSKYCH, SAPOSNIKOV, V., and PATRMAN, M. No. 10, 1954 [Nov. 11, 1953], No. 32579/54. Class 29. To increase the initial rate of refrigeration of a continuous cycle absorption system the absorber is refrigerated before the system is put in operation to form therein frozen weak solution. When in normal operation, the absorber may still be refrigerated. The working medium is an aqueous solution of ammonia. The absorber is refrigerated either by the evaporation of a compression system or by brine cooled by a compression system. The 'absorber, Fig. 2, includes a finned refrigerating coil 23. Ammonia vapour enters through a pipe 14 and flows from a distributer 15 down through pipes 16 discharging beneath a screen 17. The vapour bubbles up through weak solution supplied through pipe 18 and distributer 19, the strong solution being withdrawn from above the screen 17 through pipes 21 and an outlet 22.
