Operating and controlling doors hydraulically. - In order to simplify the arrangement claimed in the parent Specification, the distributing valve controlled by the piston R' is replaced by a free piston R<1> which acts directly as a distributing member in the cylinder R. The piston R' always sets itself so that there is pressure water over the piston of the door cylinder if a door is closed at a local station through the double three-way cock W after the main valve H a the central control station has been set to the '' doors closed " position. With the cock H set to this position, pressure fluid is led from the pipe M through the fourway cock V into the pipe T to the cylinder R. This forces the piston R<1> to the right-hand side in its cylinder and permits pressure fluid to pass to the upper side of the cylinder to close the door, as represented in diagram I. When the three-way cock is moved to position shown in diagram II the return path of the discharge water is through the pipe J, pipe B and valve H to the discharge main D. To open a bulkhead door at a local station with the valve H in the " doors closed " position, the valve V is moved into the position shown in diagram III. Water under pressure then passes through the pipe M, valve V and pipe K into the lower part of the cylinder Z, the upper part of the cylinder communicating with the pipe D through the pipes L, T, J. When the valve H is positioned at the central station for the " doors open " position, the piston R<1> is moved to the left-hand side of its cylinder.
