Operating doors hydraulically.-In hydraulic installations for controlling bulkhead doors and the like on ships from a central station and also locally, three leads P, J, M are used between each controlling-device and the main leads D, B, C for exhaust, opening, and closing, and a three-way cock Q or other distributing - member controlled by a cylinder R is arranged between the local control cock W and the control cylinder Z, the object being to ensure maintenance of pressure on any door which has been locally closed when the central control cook H is changed over to closing position. The arrangement shown in Fig 1. provides local control only when the central control cock is set for opening. The cock H is shown in the opening position and the cock W in the closing position. The modified arrangement shown in Fig. 9 provides for full local control in either position of the central control cock, by means of auxiliary four-way cocks V, V<1> coupled together and making alternative connexions between the leads J, M, the cock W, and the cylinders R, Z. The position shown is for opening by the cocks V, V<1>, W, the central cock being in the closing position.
