Abstract
947,437. Continuous heat treatment furnaces. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 6, 1962 [Jan. 24, 1962], No. 2684/62. Heading F4B. In a continuous heat treatment furnace having locks 5, 6 furnished respectively with pairs of doors 8, 9 and 10, 11 and supplied with atmosphere gas under pressure by a pipe 2, connections 3, 4 with the respective locks and offtakes 7, 8 therefrom are controlled by valves 12, 13 and 14, 15 interconnected to work oppositely and to maintain a substantially constant pressure of gas in the furnace chamber 1. Under normal working conditions the valves are positioned as shown by 12 and 13, the latter being closed sufficiently to preserve the required pressure in the furnace chamber 1 and lock 5. On charging or discharging a lock the valves are positioned as shown by 14 and 15, valve 14 being closed sufficiently to preserve the required pressure in the furnace chamber 1, in which position the outer door 11 (or 8) may be opened. Movements of the valves may be synchronized with those of the outer doors by contacts on the valve-change handles 16 actuating known electro -hydraulic door-operating devices.
