Abstract
1363349 Glassware forming machine CSS MACHINE & TOOL CO Inc 7 Aug 1972 [6 Aug 1971] 36800/72 Heading C1M An individual section glassware forming machine has a machine air inlet 10 and in each section at least one mould operated by a cylinder 53, 55, a gob-directing scoop activated by a cylinder operated by a valve 70, a valve block 51 for supplying machine air at selected times to the mould cylinder(s) 53, 55 and the scoop cylinder operating valve 70 and a clutch controlled timing drum for cyclically controlling the valve block. In addition each section has a main safety valve 20 containing a spool movable between operative and "shut-down" positions. In the operative position (Fig. 3) the spool provides communication between the valve block 51 and the valve 70. In the "shut-down" position communication is provided between the machine air inlet and the clutch 60 controlling the timing drum to disengage rotary drive of the drum 61; between the machine air inlet 10 and the mould cylinders to maintain the moulds in an open position; and between the scoop cylinder valve 70 and the atmosphere so as to vent the valve 70. Two or more manually operated valves 81, 82 are provided in parallel at different locations on the machine which supply air to cause the valve 20 of one section to move to the shut-down position. Air may also be supplied to all of the valves 20, so as to shut down all the sections, by the activation of one of a pair of manually operated valves 91, 92 or by a solenoid valve 102 which operates in the event of a power failure.
