Abstract

1,210,796. Sewing machines. K. MEERS- AND AND J. W. MESTER. 25 March, 1969 [28 May, 1968], No. 15593/69. Heading D1G. Cooling of the needle 22 of a sewing machine is effected by compressed air from a valve 12 in the air line 10 being opened by nozzle 20 arranged adjacent the needle, a the initial movement of the treadle 48 controlling the machine driving motor. The valve 12 is mounted upon a spring-biassed pivoted plate 36 so that, after the initial movement of the treadle against a plunger 68 to open the valve, continued movement of the treadle is allowed to control the machine motor. A manually adjustable valve 16 may also be provided for regulating the amount of cooling air.
